Union County Warrant Searches
Start with the public Union County court case search, which covers Circuit Court and General Sessions docket records. It does not expose a warrant-status filter and does not include a confirmed city-court feed. The current sheriff site has no public warrant-search form. A portal result can help identify the case; Sheriff Records at 865-992-5212 or the issuing clerk must confirm whether process remains active.
Use your full legal name, any case or citation number, and the year if known. Search one name or reference at a time, then call the office that handled the matter. A positive or empty result is not a final status decision. If a warrant is confirmed, ask the clerk and an attorney about the court’s next step before appearing.
- Choose Circuit Court and/or General Sessions, then Criminal and/or Civil.
- Enter a full name or case reference, a case year, or a case number.
- For Maynardville, Luttrell, or Plainview matters, call the city court separately.
- Ask the issuing clerk or Sheriff Records to confirm status; request a specific record if a copy is needed.
- Tennessee has no public statewide warrant search; ask counsel and the issuing court about confirmed process.
Union County Portal and Warrant Checks
The county portal is linked from the clerk’s court-information site. It asks for at least one court office and case type, and a Cloudflare checkbox must be completed before “Find Now” turns on. The “Match all search terms” control is checked by default. Search Help describes quoted phrases, typo tolerance, sortable result headings, a 2,500-row maximum, and a ten-word query limit.
Open the official Union County case search for the controls and current instructions.
The form searches cases, not warrants; use the clerk or Sheriff Records to confirm an active process.
What a Warrant Search Asks For
The case search accepts several ways to locate a docket. Court Type and Case Type are required selections; identity fields are optional when a year or number is supplied. Full first and last names are recommended. The portal does not ask for date of birth or a warrant number, so a same-name result needs clerk confirmation.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Party Name / Case Reference | Text, up to 100 characters | No, if year or number is supplied | Use a full first and last name or one case reference. |
| Match all search terms | Checkbox | No | Checked by default; phrase search uses quotation marks. |
| Case Year | Text, four digits | No | Usually the filing year. |
| Case Number | Text, up to 50 characters | No | Enter the numeric portion after the final hyphen. |
| Court Type | Checkboxes | At least one | Circuit Court and/or General Sessions. |
| Case Type | Checkboxes | At least one | Criminal and/or Civil; “Find Now” follows the Cloudflare check. |
Union County Case Number Search Rules
A formatted case reference can mislead a search if the full string is pasted into Case Number. The portal’s example is 99GS1-2023-CR-12345; its help says to use the numeric portion after the last hyphen for that field. Party Name / Case Reference accepts the name or reference instead. Do not combine them without a reason, because the search compounds criteria.
Only the first ten query words are considered. The result cap is 2,500 rows, and the on-page Filter matches visible text literally. These limits can hide a case in a broad search, so narrow carefully and ask the clerk about the case number if results look incomplete.
Union County Warrant Search Results
The portal returns case-search information, not a published warrant record. The official interface did not expose a sample warrant listing, active status, bond, photo, or serving officer. A blank Tennessee AOC capias form shows what a court process may contain, but that model is not proof those fields appear in the public search.
| Case number | The docket identifier is searchable; no Union warrant-number pattern is published. |
|---|---|
| Party and case type | Name/reference, year, court type, and criminal/civil category are search controls. |
| Charge | Ask the clerk to confirm the offense linked to any matched case. |
| Bond amount | Not a field the public portal says it returns; confirm with court or jail. |
| Warrant status | No status filter is shown. The clerk or Sheriff Records must verify. |
A No-Result Union County Warrant Search
An empty case search does not prove no warrant exists. A recent entry may not be indexed; a city-court matter may stay with its municipality; juvenile or sealed material is restricted; and a case docket is not the sheriff’s service record. Ask the clerk and Sheriff Records to check the actual court file.
If you have a citation from Maynardville, Luttrell, or Plainview, contact that city before relying on the county portal. Tennessee has no public statewide name-search database to fill the gap.
Union County Warrants: Who Holds What
Sheriff Records handles county service questions at 865-992-5212; Circuit Court Clerk Barbara Williams handles the court files at 865-992-5493. General Sessions matters route through Suite 204 at the courthouse. City courts hold their own ordinance and traffic dockets. A city police officer may serve city process anywhere in the county, so a county search is not a complete municipal check.
Tennessee’s TBI/TCIC and NCIC systems are for law enforcement, not public self-search. For another county or a federal matter, ask the court or an attorney which jurisdiction to contact. The current sheriff site lists Records, investigations, dispatch, and jail contacts but no warrant lookup.
City Warrant Checks Need a Separate Call
Maynardville’s city page gives the police/court contact at 865-992-3821, extension 2, and a first-Wednesday court schedule. Luttrell City Hall is 865-992-0870; Plainview’s recorder/court clerk is listed at 865-992-5841. None of the three cities has a public warrant portal located in the inspected material.
Tell the clerk the city, citation number, and approximate date. Ask whether a city-court failure-to-appear process issued and whether it was sent to the sheriff. A county result cannot answer for a separate city docket.
Which Warrants Stay Restricted
Tennessee public-record access is subject to court rules and statutory limits. Juvenile court records are restricted under T.C.A. § 37-1-153. Sealed process and protected investigative material may not be available through a public case search. If a record is withheld, ask the clerk whether a redacted or segregable copy can be released.
Key Rules:
Sealed records are not ordinary public docket entries; ask the issuing clerk what access rule applies.
Juvenile court files are protected by Tennessee law and are not public name-search material.
No result does not establish that no warrant exists; confirm directly with the issuing court or Sheriff Records.
Union County Warrant Records Requests
Direct a request to the office believed to hold the file: Sheriff Records for sheriff-held material, Circuit Court Clerk for county court process, or the city clerk for municipal cases. Describe an existing record, such as a warrant or capias in a named case, rather than asking the county to compile every outstanding warrant.
The Tennessee Public Records Act FAQ explains request and response practice. The Circuit Court Clerk’s site provides court and payment links, and the official county directory helps identify departments. Include your contact information, court or agency, case number, and date range. Confirm any copy fee with the clerk; the Finance form is not a sheriff-specific request form.
